Kent Education Association Teachers Strike

The teachers of Kent Education Association begin their 6th day on strike Friday September 2nd 8AM across Kent School District! These teachers are striking for dignity, better wages, and support in serving their community. Please join if you can. Core demands include:
  • Competitive wages to thrive in the high cost of living area.
  • Smaller class sizes to provide quality education.
  • More resources for students’ mental health.

Trans Pride Seattle

For the first time in a few years, Seattle Trans Pride is back in person – tomorrow, Friday September 2from 5:30-9:30 at Volunteer Park in Seattle. Trans Pride is an annual event by and for the trans community and allies—both within and beyond Seattle—through increased visibility, connection, and celebration. The event will include live performances, tabling, and more! For more information, check out the Trans Pride Seattle website.

Labor Day Picnic

MLK Labor’s annual Labor Day Picnic is also back in person this year. Join fellow union members from all sectors across King County for a picnic on Monday September 5, 2022 from 11am-2pm at Angle Lake Park in SeaTac. MLK Labor has reserved the entire park and is hiring two food trucks to provide food free to attendees. There will also be drinks, games, prizes, and a splash park for kids as well as a swimming beach. The picnic is open to all union members and families. You can find more info and RSVP on Facebook.

Support Subvert UD

 Subvert UD is a University District student and community mutual aid group that distributes free food and supplies on Sundays 12-1:30PM at University Heights by the basketball court. CID: Safety Not Sweeps

ChuMinh Tofu is partnering with Asian Counseling and Referral Services (ACRS), Massage Parlor Outreach Project (MPOP) and other community groups for a campaign called CID: Safety Not Sweeps. Unhoused neighbors in Little Saigon and the Chinatown-International District deserve homes and community support. Sweeps are inadequate and decrease safety for everyone.
