Dear UAW Member,
Solidarity with hotel workers
On September 14th, Westin Seattle workers voted 98% to authorize a strike against Marriott. They stand alongside over 8,000 Marriott workers in Boston, Honolulu, Maui, San Francisco, San Diego, San Jose, Oakland and Detroit who have also voted overwhelmingly to strike. Throughout this campaign, their message to Marriott has been simple: One Job Should Be Enough. Marriott is the largest and the richest hotel employer, and they can do better.
At yesterday’s membership meeting, we passed a resolution in solidarity – please show your support in the following ways:
Solidarity Rally TODAY (10/12), 4pm @ the Seattle Westin
PICKET: Once a strike is called, Westin workers will be picketing outside the hotel every day from 6am to 12am. Sign up at to join them for a weekly two hour shift. The Local will also adopt a picket day.
PLEDGE: As hotel customers, your voice is powerful. Visit www.marriotttravelalert.org to pledge as an individual to support Marriott hotel workers by not eating, sleeping, or meeting at any Marriott in the event of a boycott and/or strike. Marriott brands include Westin, Sheraton, Renaissance, W, Courtyard, Springhill Suites, Moxy, Four Points, and others.
