Job Post: Temporary Organizer
UAW Local 4121 is the union representing 4,500 Academic Student Employees at the University of Washington. We are seeking to hire part or full-time temporary organizers during our contract campaign to support the ongoing work of the Local to build our collective power and advocate for fair working conditions, a stronger and more accessible higher education system, and social justice in our community and beyond.
Temporary Organizer job responsibilities will include:
- One-to-one outreach with UW Academic Student Employees at the Seattle, Tacoma and Bothell campuses
- Mobilization of Local 4121 members to participate in actions, rallies, and other collective demonstrations
- Participation and facilitation of small-group meetings
- Data entry
A qualified candidate will be able to demonstrate:
- Strong attention to detail
- Knowledge of ASE workplaces and working conditions at UW
- Proficiency in Microsoft and Google-based programs
- Excellent time management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Capacity to work independently and with a team, and with people from diverse backgrounds
- A commitment to economic, racial and social justice
- Union experience is a plus
- Priority given to UAW 4121 members
