We took an important step forward today in our ongoing campaign for a fair contract by April 30th.
Check out ourĀ video of the action here.
Hundreds of Academic Student Employees and campus allies rallied to express their commitment to preserving quality and access in higher education and to our bargaining efforts with the University.
Speakers unveiled a list of ten solutions that will lead the UW on the path to continued academic excellence. GPSS and ASUW Presidents emphasized the importance of preserving ASE jobs, maintaining competitiveness and providing access to childcare. An impassioned faculty member argued in favor of waiving tuition and fees for ASEs. Our brothers and sisters from SEIU 925, WFSE 1488 and GCIU 767 raised their voices to defend quality services and union jobs, and joined us in demanding that the Legislature prioritize core services over corporate tax breaks.
Afterwards, the crowd marched to Gerberding Hall to deliver the list of solutions to President Wise, with copies also on the way to the state Legislative leadership.
Our message: We Are One in demanding investments in the critical workforces that provide quality education to the community. Thanks to everyone who made today an energetic action!
