Today we heard from UW that they are available to start negotiations over a new contact on Friday December 5th! There are three things you can do to help strengthen our position as we begin negotiations:
- Sign on to an open letter ratifying our initial bargaining demands.
- Attend our next membership meeting on Thursday, December 4th at 4:30 p.m. in Loew Hall 205.
- Attend our first day of bargaining on Friday, December 5th at 10 a.m. in Condon Hall 311.
Please help build power to achieve these demands by adding your name. You can sign on by filling out this form. These demands seek not only to improve our working conditions but also to improve the University of Washington for all students, workers, and community members who attend, work at, and benefit from the University.
Our monthly membership meeting will be held Thursday, December 4th at 4:30 p.m. in Loew Hall 205. At this meeting we will discuss the opening of bargaining, and we will consider an amendment to the bylaws proposed at the last membership meeting. After hearing the report of the bylaws committee members will have an opportunity to vote, and may pass the bylaws amendment with a 2/3 majority vote. All members in good standing are encouraged to attend, and as always children are welcome.
First Day of Bargaining
All members are welcome to attend this and any other bargaining session with the University. Our initial demands have been drafted based on your input and the work of dozens of work group participants. Come be part of our opening discussions with the University about how we can succeed at improving our collective bargaining agreement and the broader community.
