Today in bargaining there was barely perceptible movement from UW Admin. The only movement they have made towards us since the April 30th straw poll has been:
- On May 8th, they removed language from their fees proposal that would enable them to arbitrarily raise or add fees.
- So far today, they have made some movement on mental health, proposing to waive deductibles for mental health coverage (in network and out of network).
- We resolved several details to reach tentative agreement on Article 19 (Non-discrimination and Harassment) and a new Memorandum of Understanding on Sexual Harassment Prevention Training.
Given that this movement is so small since our last straw poll on April 30, members present at the 5:30 prep meeting voted to cancel tonight’s straw poll. Unless things change dramatically — which we do not expect at this time — tomorrow’s one-day strike is on!
UW Admin is still at the table, therefore bargaining members are still there in case further movement can be made. We will continue to send updates as the evening progresses, including more information about strike logistics and a strike sanction letter you can bring with you on the bus.
