Dear Colleague,
It’s time to ratify our contract.
Voting opens today, June 3 at 8 AM, and closes next Monday, June 10 at 9 PM. We urge all Postdocs to to vote today!
Thanks to the collective efforts of countless numbers of Postdocs across campus over the last year, we have successfully negotiated a tentative agreement that includes wage increases for all Postdocs, appointment security, the strongest sexual harassment and discrimination protections for any Postdocs in the country, and a host of other rights, benefits and protections that will dramatically improve our working conditions here at UW. Please read a summary of each contract article here, and the articles in their entirety here.
We will also hold daily information sessions with additional meetings to be scheduled throughout the week as needed. Please join us to discuss the tentative agreement and ask questions so you can get the information you need to make an informed choice.
Monday: Foege N-303, 12-1 PM
Tuesday #1: South Lake Union Campus, Brotman Auditorium, 1-2 PM
Tuesday #2: PAB B-305, 4-5 PM
Wednesday: MolES 115, 12-1 PM
Thursday: Foege N-503, 12-1 PM
Friday: MolES 115, 12-1 PM
It is crucial that all Postdocs participate in this vote. The Bargaining Committee enthusiastically and unanimously endorses a YES vote. If a majority of Postdocs participating vote yes, the contract will be implemented immediately. If a majority do not vote yes, the bargaining committee would return to negotiations (and likely delay terms that we believe should be implemented immediately).
Moreover: a strong Yes vote will put us in a strong position to implement and enforce the provisions we have fought so hard to achieve.
Please vote today!
In solidarity,
The UW Postdocs United / UAW 4121 Bargaining Committee
