Last Wednesday, Congress took an important step by passing the DREAM Act out of the House of Representatives. This legislation would legalize the immigration status of young people who were brought to the U.S. as children and provides them with a fair path towards citizenship. Many of us know and work with undocumented immigrant students who grew up in this country and have overcome incredible adversity to pursue higher education.
The passage of this act will not only give our students the opportunity to fulfill their aspirations, but it would also bring us closer to the goal of Comprehensive Immigration Reform.
