This quarter, we will begin negotiating for our fourth contract with the University of Washington that governs our rights, protections, wages and benefits.
As Academic Student Employees, we provide over half the instructional contact hours, conduct innovative research that attracts millions of grant and contract dollars, and serve the wider community. It would be impossible for the UW to maintain its stature as a flagship University without our work. Bargaining this year will be a continuation of our struggle to maintain academic excellence at the University by ensuring that we have fair working conditions.
Our bargaining committee is holding department meetings across campus this month to discuss bargaining priorities and strategy.
