Welcome to the University of Washington and UAW Local 4121, the Union for Academic Student Employees (ASEs), Postdocs, Research Scientists A-4, and Research Coordinators/Consultants. Through the Union we bargain collectively over the terms and conditions of employment for all graduate and undergraduate ASEs at UW (Research Assistants, Teaching Assistants, Staff Assistants, Reader/Graders, Tutors), Postdocs, Research Scientists A-4, and Research Coordinators/Consultants.
Our strong majority membership has allowed us to negotiate and enforce wage increases for ASEs, Postdocs, Research Scientists A-4, and Research Coordinators/Consultants, improvements to health insurance, strong workload and non-discrimination and sexual harassment protections, as well as other improvements. Our ability to improve and defend our rights depends on every ASE, Postdoc, Research Scientist A-4, and Research Coordinator/Consultant signing up for membership.
All ASEs, Postdocs, Research Scientists A-4, and Research Coordinators/Consultants can join, including international students/postdocs/researchers. Additionally, all UW graduate students can become members, regardless of your funding source.
