Family Friendly and Gender-Equity

Who We Are

The Family Friendly and Gender-Equity working group focuses on supporting the family needs of students on issues of childcare, parental leave, lactation stations, and more.  We make sure ASEs and Postdocs know of existing resources and advocate for access to additional resources.

What We Do
  • Enforce and improve the availability of lactation stations on campus
  • Foster a more inclusive environment for students who are parents
  • Victory! Working with the M.L. King County Labor Council and Councilmember Kshama Sawant’s office, we helped secure paid family leave in Seattle & Washington State.

Get Involved

Postdocs are reforming the Postdoc Parenting Work Group as the Postdoc Family Friendly Working Group. This workgroup was incredibly active in our last contract campaign and it’s time to restart conversations about how to distribute childcare funds, emerging needs during this pandemic, and demands for our next contract.
