Housing Justice Updates & Events

Yesterday, Seattle City Council unanimously passed important move-in fees legislation our Local has been strongly supporting. This legislation, set to go into effect in January, will cap the upfront costs a landlord can charge to the amount of one month’s rent, and will additionally allow renters to pay those fees in installments over six months rather than in one upfront payment. This is a huge win for housing justice in Seattle!

Tent City 3 will also be moving to UW Seattle Campus this weekend for a 90-day stay. There are two opportunities to help move the camp: on Friday 12/16 in Lake City and Saturday 12/17 at UW. Check out the Facebook event for more information, and be on the lookout for even more opportunities to get involved in the near future!
