| Dear UAW member,
Welcome new ASEs! Our first membership meeting of the new academic year is coming up, and all are welcome to come, hear what’s happening, meet colleagues from around campus and learn how you can get involved! Our monthly membership meeting will be on Thursday 10/11 from 5:30-7pm in Bagley Hall 143. Here’s the proposed agenda for the meeting:
- Approve agenda
- Approve minutes
- WA Immigrant Solidarity Network presentation on immigrant rights advocacy
- Set election dates for officer vacancies
- Election of the 2018/19 elections committee
- Update on U-PASS bargaining
- Organizing/Mobilization plan for Fall Quarter
- Adjourn
All members in good standing are encouraged to attend, and new members may sign up to join the union at the meeting. As always children are welcome!
An additional note: following the issuance of the Janus decision by the US Supreme Court, our existing Article 29 (Union Security) was invalidated, and we were able to re-negotiate new language per the Severability clause of our collective bargaining agreement. You can find proposed revised language for this article here that the bargaining committee recommends members vote to adopt. We will hold an online vote to ratify this new language on Monday (10/15) and Tuesday (10/16). Please email uaw4121@uaw4121.org if you have any questions.
