Dear UAW Member,

At tomorrow’s monthly membership meeting, we’ll discuss plans to fight the proposal by Trump’s National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) to eliminate collective bargaining rights for academic student employees at private universities. At a time when an increasing number of academic workers – student employees, Postdocs, Academic Researchers, and others – are forming unions, winning contracts, and mobilizing for fair and equitable conditions, the NLRB has taken the unprecedented step of proposing rule changes to roll back collective bargaining rights for student employees. You can read more about it here.

Join the discussion tomorrow (Thursday 11/14) at 5:30 p.m. in Health Sciences Building T-473 to learn more about how this effort could affect us at UW, and how you can help build the nationwide mobilization to stop the NLRB (and the University administrations pushing for this) from succeeding. The full meeting agenda is as follows:

  • Approve Agenda, Minutes, Actions
  • 2021 Contract Campaign Organizing
  • Take Action on NLRB Proposed Rule
  • 2019 City Council Updates
  • Elections Committee Report
  • Defense Committee Report
  • Solidarity Actions
  • Adjourn

All members in good standing are encouraged to attend, and new members may sign up to join the union at the meeting. As always, children are welcome!
