Last night, in a special membership meeting, we gathered amidst the festivities at Husky Sunset to give feedback on and discuss next steps following Tuesday’s strike. In order to continue building power for a fair contract, we voted to mobilize for an end-of-the-quarter strike if UW Admin’s bargaining proposals do not improve sufficiently. The strike would last from June 2nd (start of finals) through June 15th (the end of Spring Quarter appointments).
As part of the feedback on the strike earlier this week, we decided to implement a more thorough and detailed communications plan, including live tweet updates from bargaining and polling membership on changes UW Admin makes (or doesn’t make) to their current offer.
Additionally, we are planning a thank you reception for all the unions and community organizations that supported us in our strike on Tuesday. The event will take place Monday May 21 on campus (exact location TBA). All are encouraged to attend!
Also on Monday, the Seattle City Council will consider passing a resolution supporting our contract campaign and calling on the UW Admin to reach a fair contract with us. Anyone who wants to go and support this effort, please go to City Hall from 1:30-3:30 PM Monday.
Please contact us anytime with questions or to get more involved.
Thank you for your support,
Your UAW 4121 Bargaining Committee
