In response to our grievances and demand to bargain over the proposed cuts to TA jobs in the College of Arts and Sciences, the University has begin to offer funding in at least two departments. Our efforts are working!
Please remember to contact your union representative, or send an email firstname.lastname@example.org, if you were expecting funding and have been told you won’t be receiving any. The University has stated in their response to ourinformation request that affected members should contact the union, who will work with the College to help address such situations.
Tomorrow, union members will plan to address the Board of Regents again about this issue at 1:00 pm in the Peterson Room in the Allen Library. Come out to show solidarity, then don’t forget to attend our membership meeting at 5:00 pm to help decide next steps in this campaign and hear other reports of member activism in enforcing and growing rights/protections across campus.
Our June membership meeting will take place tomorrow (Thursday, June 9) at 5:00 p.m. in Guggenheim Room 220. The proposed agenda is as follows:
- Approve Agenda
- Approve Minutes
- Elections Committee Report
- Fund TAs: Discussion of Status of Bargaining Demand and Next Steps
- Contract Enforcement Reports and Campaigns
- Climate Caucus and Climate Justice Campaigns
- Trans*Equity Campaigns and Resolution Opposing Initiative 1515
Any member who would like to propose additional agenda items or submit materials for the meeting is welcome to email email@example.com by 12:00 noon on Thursday, June 9th.
Doors will open at 4:30 p.m. Members’ names will be cross-checked against a membership list, and people who are eligible for membership but have not yet filled out a membership election form may do so at the door. Please note that only union members in good standing will be permitted to participate in meeting action item and votes.
