On Wednesday, ballots were sent out by email for the strike authorization vote. If you haven’t already, please take a minute now to vote for strike authorization, and help send a clear message that we want a fair contract!
Your unique ballot should be in your inbox (or spam folder) with the subject line “UAW4121 2018 SAV – Link to online ballot,” and in-person voting will be available near Drumheller Fountain on Monday 4/23 and Tuesday 4/24 from 11:00 am – 2:00 pm. If you are having trouble locating your ballot, please email elections@uaw4121.org with your name and department. For more information about how the contract campaign has been going and the importance of this vote, you can read this FAQ, check out the bargaining center, or contact your steward!
Please also mark your calendar for a critical bargaining session this coming Tuesday, 4/24, 11:30am-1pm, Roosevelt Commons West. Following the unsatisfactory presentation by UW’s Executive Vice President of Finance and Administration on Monday, UW Administration’s negotiating team has now invited Provost Jerry Baldasty to bargaining to answer our questions about the budget.
We need to pack the room to demonstrate to the Administration our clear and firm resolve for a wage increase that — unlike their initial proposal of a 0% wage increase — actually reflects the cost of living in Seattle and respects the high quality of work we do at the university. The only movement UW Administration has made in negotiations has come as a direct result of massive member action — please come on Tuesday and bring others in your department with you!
