12:00 noon in Red Square: No Visa and Immigration Ban!

Tomorrow join other UAW members and campus groups on Red Square as part of a nationwide day of action to oppose President Trump’s Executive Orders.  We’ve been taking action since December to push UW to become a true Sanctuary Campus, and in this past week we’ve made strides in resisting President Trump’s efforts to target immigrants.  After occupying SeaTac and rallying at Westlake, we contributed to the lawsuit that resulted in a Temporary Restraining Order on the ban.

Rally at lunchtime with more than 50 campuses nationwide to keep up the momentum!

5:30 p.m. in Sieg 134: Discussion of Bargaining Demands

At our regular monthly membership meeting we’ll discuss some draft demands prepared by the bargaining committee to add important protections to the collective bargaining agreement.  This stems from UAW 4121 members’ concerns regarding the impact on them of recent events stemming from the Executive Orders and resulting policy changes by the UW administration.  Please attend this important discussion to give feedback and make mobilization plans.

Subsequent to the meeting all members will have the opportunity to review and vote on these demands before we present them to the University.

The agenda for the meeting is as follows:

  1. Approve Agenda
  2. Approve Minutes
  3. Working Group Reports (this will include a presentation by the international solidarity working group and a discussion of best practices for protecting refugees, etc. in research)
  4. Discussion of Proposed Bargaining Demands
  5. Adjourn

All members in good standing are encouraged to attend, and new members may sign up to join the union at the meeting.  As always children are welcome!
