Tomorrow (Wednesday October 14) join with other UAW members and activists from throughout the state for a People’s Climate March in downtown Seattle. See today’s coverage in the Seattle P-I.
As student workers, many of us are involved on and off campus in addressing the causes and consequences of climate change, and in particular the ways communities of color and vulnerable populations are most affected. Tomorrow provides the opportunity for us to come together with a broad range of community members delivering the message that a just transition from a fossil fuel economy means ensuring that no one gets left behind. As union members our presence helps reinforce the need for jobs of the future to be living wage jobs that promote a clean environment.
Meet at 5:00PM at City Hall (go to the corner of 4th and James) to contribute to the climate ribbon and then begin the march at 5:30PM sharp. Rally at 6:00 p.m.at Occidental Park (go to at the corner of Washington and Occidental Near the Box House Saloon), featuring speakers Naomi Klein, UW student Sarra Tekola, and others. The event should end by about 7:00 p.m.
Our world is changing faster than anyone expected, and our voices must be heard in Paris and beyond. Please let us know if you can join this critical march tomorrow!
In solidarity,
