UAW 4121 - UW Works Because We Do
Dear UAW Member,

Last summer, our Union worked alongside campus Unions, community groups, and progressive allies to push UW to provide a free U-PASS for all. We succeeded and won a free U-PASS for all ASEs (and Postdocs, as well). Recently, we learned that the University intends to deny the subsidized U-PASS to ASEs who don’t receive tuition waivers.

To be clear, the University has not disputed providing the subsidized U-PASS to ASEs with 50% FTE positions and tuition waivers. Despite this, some eligible ASEs with at least 50% FTE positions and tuition waivers may still not have received the subsidized U-PASS. In regards to these non-disputed ASEs, we are actively working to resolve the administrative hurdles to having the subsidized U-PASS applied, and we expect updates soon.

The University, however, is disputing providing the U-PASS to ASEs who are not at least 50% FTE and do not have tuition waivers. We believe this violates our collective bargaining agreement. To strategize actions to secure the U-PASS for all bargaining unit employees, we are convening an action meeting on Wednesday, July 10th at 12pm in Research Commons Red A.

Please fill out this form if you are not currently receiving a U-PASS for any reason. This information will help the Contract Enforcement Working Group investigate why you may not have received the U-PASS subsidy, and aid in resolving this grievance quickly. If you are interested in helping with this effort please email uaw4121@uaw4121.org.
