Pending a new bargaining update, we’re writing to bring to your attention a couple of important campus actions happening today and tomorrow, involving student organizations that have been supportive of our efforts at the bargaining table. Thanks for your continued feedback and engagement – stay tuned for more soon!
Be sure to vote today, May 11th, in the election for leadership of the Associated Students of the University of Washington. All UW students (graduate and undergrad) are eligible to vote in this election. ASUW has been very helpful in our campaign this year, most recently by passing a resolution in support of bargaining thanks to the leadership of Andrew Lewis, Evan Smith, Michelle Nance, Madeleine McKenna, and Jed Bradley. You can vote online and find more information about the candidates here:
Thursday, the UW United Students Against Sweatshops Kick Out Sodexo Coaliton is holding a Rally to Demand That President Wise and UW Regents Stop Paying A Global Human Rights Violator this Thursday, May 12th, at 11:30 am in Red Square in front of Gerberding Hall.
The coalition has been engaged in an ongoing struggle to hold Sodexo, a giant multinational food service corporation, accountable for a pattern of global human rights abuses, racial discrimination and threatening workers who stand up against sweatshop conditions. Help put pressure on the UW administration to terminate Sodexo’s contract to run concessions at Husky stadium on May 12th! For more information go to: http://kickoutsodexo.org.
