Every significant movement UW Administration has made in bargaining has been a direct result of major member action. The more ASEs across campus participate, the stronger contract we can win! There are a number of ways you can help strengthen your union and build our collective power for the contract campaign. Please consider participating in one or more ways:
- Members across campus are rapidly organizing for a possible strike on May 15th. If you haven’t already, members of the bargaining committee are ready to help organize a meeting in your department to discuss what’s happening and plan additional actions if UW doesn’t reach a fair settlement. Email uaw4121@uaw4121.org if you’d like to have a bargaining committee member come to your department meeting! We will continue to post information as the process unfolds.
- Join a committee!
- Increase the percentage of ASEs who are members of the union: More members means more power to bargain a better contract, and only members are able to participate in bargaining sessions and vote on final contract language. You can help sign ASEs up as members – email uaw4121@uaw4121.org if you would like copies of membership cards or more information about ASEs in your department who haven’t signed up yet. If you are not yet a member, sign up today!
- Participate in bargaining: All members are encouraged to come to bargaining sessions! A full calendar is below. Unless otherwise noted, sessions are usually held in Roosevelt Commons West 271 from 9am-5pm, and you’re welcome to come for an hour or two even if you can’t stay for the entire day.
