Today’s strike, in which thousands of ASEs walked off the job, joined our picket lines, and participated in a major rally in Red Square, set a new bar for membership mobilization.  Unfazed by the University’s posture in bargaining, Local 4121 members took action to remind our campus community that we will not relent in fighting for a contract that supports all ASEs, particularly amidst skyrocketing costs of living that disproportionately affect those who are already underrepresented in higher ed – women, people of color, LGBTQ+ people, and more.

We were joined by members from more than a half dozen unions, as well as elected representatives, students, and faculty who expressed their strong support for us.

Incidentally, this afternoon the University administration contacted us about setting a next bargaining meeting next week (May 22nd).

As we prepare to meet with Administration, we will also soon hold another membership meeting to strategize our next steps.  Stay tuned for a date and time for this.

For now, please peruse (and post, if you have them!) photos from today’s strike. Our expressions of solidarity are even stronger now, as is our resolve to fight until we win a just and equitable contract.
