Today’s important Votes/Surveys:
- Research Staff (RS) Bargaining Survey: Help decide our collective priorities for a stronger RS contract in 2026 by taking this 15 minute Research Staff Bargaining Survey!
- Hours Tracking Survey: Are you a Postdoc or a Research Staff that makes an annual wage that is less than $77,968.80 in 2025? Then according to Washington State law, you’re eligible for overtime pay. How has your lab or department handled hours tracking and reporting? Take this 5 minute confidential survey today!
- Student Health Fee: Students are being asked to pay up to $500/year more in student fees to expand health care access on campus. While everyone deserves more accessible health care, the cost should not come from student’s pockets! Vote no today, and join union members organizing for healthcare funding from equitable funding sources.
Next Up:

At the December monthly membership meeting (MMM) union members will be voting on how their dues get used next year. Request the budget slides here and bring your questions to the next MMM on 12/18 at 5pm before voting. RSVP here!
- Schedule EPIC. EPIC 1.0 teaches how to improve equity through bystander intervention. EPIC 2.0 teaches how solidarity and collective action can be used to further improve equity in academia. Register for a session or help set-up one in your area by emailing epicprogram@uw.edu today!
Celebrating Successes:
On 11/19, union members gathered to organize around getting better protections for international workers. At the meeting, members made plans to work with their departments to post private space signs (aka no ICE) in their building, created statements of guaranteed funding for International workers, and more! Email international-solidarity@uaw4121.org for more information on how to get involved.
11/19 Immigration Mass Meeting
This fall, UAW 4121 members volunteered over 650 hours to elect representatives that will fight for affordable housing and childcare, higher education funding, and more. All of our union endorsed candidates and ballot measures have won, and union members played a pivotal role in getting Katie Wilson elected as a mayor! However, our organizing is not finished here. We will continue to build power that will help our newly elected representatives pass the legislation working people desperately need.
