Department and Area Meetings
Postdocs are hosting area meetings across campus to give insight into the bargaining process and review negotiation proposals on wages, international rights and harassment protections. The meeting agenda includes presenting a plan to strengthen bargaining and win a first contract as soon as possible.
If you haven’t been contacted about a meeting in your area or if you would like to host a meeting, please let us know.
Postdocs Bargaining Update
During the bargaining session on Thursday, the UW administration presented counter proposals on Leaves, Health Care, Purpose and Intent, Job Titles and Intellectual Property. UW indicated they are unwilling to find solutions for providing paid direct Postdocs (who get their funding directly from an external grant) with health care. They argued that there is currently no mechanism to provide paid direct Postdocs with health insurance, and that they have no intention of creating such a mechanism. We countered that paid direct Postdocs are also UW employees, and that denying them access to health care is inequitable. Additionally we provided proposals on Intellectual Property, Titles and Classifications, and Leaves. All current proposals can be accessed here.
Take the Equity Survey
