Dear Colleague,
UAW Speaks Out Against Attacks on Discrimination Protections
Education Secretary Betsy DeVos has (known as Title IX protections). On behalf of its Higher Ed unions, the UAW International Union has submitted a expressing strong opposition to the Trump administration’s proposal.
This attack on Title IX is just another reason why we must negotiate a contract that has strong protections against harassment and discrimination. If you’ve not yet done so, we urge you take fifteen minutes now to fill out our Equity Survey. Feedback from all Postdocs is crucial to winning strong discrimination protections at the bargaining table!
Support UC Academic Researchers’ Unionization Effort
At the University of California, Academic Researchers (Project Scientists, Specialists, Professional Researchers and Coordinators of Public Programs) have demonstrated majority support for forming a union. However, the UC is delaying bargaining by claiming that Academic Researchers don’t constitute an appropriate bargaining unit (sound familiar?). Jocelyne Fadiga, a Junior Specialist at UC San Francisco and Fred Bauman, a Project Scientist at UC Berkeley, penned a powerful op-ed urging UC to stop the delays. We urge you to and share the op-ed to help amplify their message!
As always, this is your union, so don’t hesitate to get in touch via , or our inbox!
In solidarity,
Your UWPU / UAW 4121 Bargaining Committee
