Seattle teachers at Garfield High School, Ballard High School, Chief Sealth High School, the Center School, and Orca K-8 School voted to stop administering the deeply flawed Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) test. They are now facing threats of from the Seattle School District for refusing to give the test.  The Seattle School district has revised the winter testing window to end on Friday, March 1st–after that date Seattle’s MAP test boycotting teachers could face these disciplinary measures.

Students and parents are joining the struggle in defense of their teachers and their right to a quality education and the movement is spreading throughout the country:

The outcome of this grassroots movement will have an enormous impact on the future of resistance to high stakes testing around the country.
