UAW 4121 - UW Works Because We Do
Dear UAW Member,

This coming Tuesday, November 20th at 6PM, our Local is co-sponsoring a community action event to both commemorate Trans Day of Remembrance and build a movement of trans resistance. Please make it out! For more information and to RSVP, visit the Facebook event page here.

In light of the most recent waves of attacks on trans people, there is a growing urgency within the queer and trans community, as well as the wider left, to develop a strategy to fight back against these vicious attacks. PFLAG, UAW 4121, Seattle Democratic Socialists of America, Socialist Alternative, Councilmember Kshama Sawant’s office, and Mac McGregor, community leader and organizer of Trans Day of Remembrance, are coming together to host a very special Trans Day of Resistance and Remembrance to mourn the dead, and fight like hell for the living!

We will have a panel discussion of trans leaders, socialists, and activists to discuss a strategy to defeat Trump’s right-wing agenda, inform trans and gender non-conforming community members about protecting themselves, and fighting for a truly inclusive and affordable Seattle. This will be followed by the Trans Day of Remembrance ceremony to honor and celebrate those who gave their lives to this struggle.

If you are interested in getting more involved with our Local’s work to fight for trans rights, you are encouraged to join our Trans Equity Working Group by emailing trans-equity@uaw4121.org.

In Solidarity,
Trans Equity Working Group
