The University announced today that they are going to raise the wages of all student workers to $11. This comes on the heels of our March bargaining proposal that demanded the university comply with the law and raise the wages of all student workers.
This would not have been possible without the action of the members of the UAW 4121 and our allies in the progressive coalition of campus unions and student groups–Reclaim UW.
It is important to note that the fight for fair wages at the University of Washington is not over yet. The university has yet to concede that they are subject to the wage laws of the city of Seattle and so more pressure will be needed going forward to bring everyone’s wages up to $15/hour as quickly as possible.
