Dear Colleague,
Wage implementation:
The new Postdoc wage scale went into effect on August 1st, however the university has until September 25th to implement the new wages and process wage denials. Postdocs will most likely not see increased wages in August, but Labor Relations is doing their best to implement all changes as soon as possible. Any wages that should have been received in August should be paid retroactively. Remember: the contract outlines only the minimum salaries Postdocs should receive – there are no maximum limits placed by our contract.
U-PASS:
All Postdocs should finally have a working free U-PASS on your Husky Card! We are thrilled that many of you have reported no problems tapping your card on transit. With regard to the delayed U-PASS implementation, Labor Relations reiterated that all Postdocs who paid for the U-Pass after July 1st will be reimbursed, even if they have left UW. The discussions about reimbursements for Postdocs who acquired costs because they were told they could not sign up for the U-PASS are ongoing. If you are in this situation, or if your U-PASS still doesn’t work, or if you are still being charged for a U-PASS, please contact us so we can get this resolved.
If you recently joined UW as a Postdoc, please note that the list of employees who qualify for the free U-PASS is updated every pay period (every 2 weeks), so it could take up to two weeks until your U-PASS is active. If you need to use transit sooner than that, you can contact us or Labor Relations directly to expedite the process.
