About Your Union

We are the Union for approximately 4,000 Academic Student Employees (ASEs) – Research Assistants, Teaching Assistants, Staff Assistants, Readers/Graders, Tutors, and Fellows and Trainees doing similar work – at the three campuses of the University of Washington.  We help provide instruction for tens of thousands of students each year and advance the University’s world-renowned, cutting-edge research programs.

Through the Union we have the right to bargain with the UW over our wages, hours, benefits, and working conditions, and a stronger voice than we would have as individuals.  In addition to negotiating and enforcing important workplace improvements, we fight for social and economic justice on campus and in the community through participation in a broad range of issues and actions.
