Defend Education for the 99%
November 9th, 2011
Starts at 12:30pm on the Quad
As the possibility of further cuts to higher education looms, UW students, campus unions, parents, and faculty are coming together to demand that decision-makers serve the needs of the entire community, rather than the needs of the few.  On Wednesday, November 9th, join in a campus-wide mobilization to Defend Education for the 99%.Decision-makers have used the economic crisis in recent years to erode state support for institutions like UW.  Now we’re witnessing a paradigmatic shift that affects not only those who work and attend school, but the entire community.
  • Tuition and fee hikes do not serve the 99%
  • Cutting staff positions and benefits does not serve the 99%
  • Compromising research programs does not serve the 99%

Join students, workers, faculty and alumni to demand that the state spend our money on education and essential services for the 99% – not tax breaks for the 1%.

(See  for more on tax breaks).

As the wave of protests against Wall Street has reminded us, there’s money out there to fully fund higher education and other essential state services.  For this day of action join students, workers, faculty and alumni to demand that the state spend our money on education and essential services for the 99% – not tax breaks for the 1%.
