UPDATE 6/25: Steward candidates are now posted.
Nominations for steward positions in UAW 4121 are now open through June 24th. This is an opportunity to take a leadership position in your department.
The primary responsibility of a steward is to represent and guide colleagues through the grievance procedure. Stewards will receive training for this role. More informally, stewards are points of contact for their department on union affairs and often take on an organizing role. The terms of newly elected stewards run through September 2020. Please see Article 10 in our bylaws for more information.
The number of steward positions is determined for each department by dividing the number of its in-unit ASEs by 50, rounded up. The number of positions for each department/hiring unit can be found in the table at the bottom of this post.
In order to accept nomination for a steward position, please fill out this nomination form by 11:59pm on June 28. The timeline is as follows:
- Nomination Period: Thursday 6/14 – Sunday 6/24 (also deadline to submit optional candidate statements and photos)
- Campaign Period: Monday 6/25 – Sunday 7/8 (for contested positions)
- Voting: Monday 7/9 – Wednesday 7/11 (for contested positions)
- (all dates extend to 11:59pm Pacific Time)
